I think that's a bit harsh, though the game is flawed. I wrote this guide up for my site Planet Tony Hawk upon its release and have only now formatted it for text. Since there's barely any coverage of this game, it's good to have *something* on it. This guide should help you through some of the more difficult challenges found in Tony Hawk Ride. To my knowledge, these tips should work on all three platforms (PS3, Xbox360, Wii) but I have yet to test it out on the Wii. If you have concerns about how to do a move, be sure to check out the tutorial videos found in the pause menu. If you're fed up with setting up Goofy or Regular stance, go to the options menu found in the main screen and turn that off! For the statue, make sure you have some speed and ollie up late to clear the gap. Challenge #2 ------------ -Ollie Up to the Rooftop -Ollie Over the Gap to the Second Rooftop -Ollie Over the Gap to the Third Rooftop Challenge #3 ------------ -Push to Gain Speed for the Jumps -Ollie Over the Gaps -Tilt Trick off the Last Ramp Challenge #4 ------------ -Grind the Picnic Tables -Ollie up Through the Giant Ring Challenge #5 ------------ -Ollie up the Ramp and Land on the Downslope -Ollie up to the High Bar Grind -Make the Grind Gap Between both High Bars ============================= Section B: L.A. River Challenges ============================= Challenge #1 ------------ -Tilt Trick Off the First Ramp -Tilt Trick Off the Second Ramp -Grind 50 Feet in the Tunnel Two quick tilt tricks and a grind. Since you don't have to balance the grind, this should be rather simple. Challenge #2 ------------ -Manual 50 Feet in the Ditch -Tilt Trick Over the Bridge -Grind the Metal Rail A nice manual through the red zone and a grind on a rail. Not bad, the only tough area could be the bridge, so make sure you got some extra speed when approaching the gap. A quick tilt trick, performed late to clear the gap and you're golden! Challenge #3 ------------ -Grind the Reservoir Ledge -Ollie Over the First Set of Boards -Ollie Over the Second Set of Boards Make it to the End of the Ledges Get some speed, ollie up and grind. I missed the second board the first time through because I didn't see it. Make sure you ollie early to give the board a split second to register your move. Ollie over both boards and then just keep grinding to clear this challenge. Challenge #4 ------------ -Ollie Over the First Barrier -Ollie Over the Second Barrier -Ollie Over the Third Barrier Ollie over the first two sets. For the third, just ollie late to clear the gap. Challenge #5 ------------ -Tilt Trick Over the Dam Ledges -Grind the Left Dam Beam -Break Through the Dam Scaffolding -Grab Trick Over the Dam Gap Tilt trick, then grind. The scaffolding part doesn't require you to do anything. Like most big gap goals, you're going to want to perform the Dam Gap ollie as late as possible. ===================================== Section C: Lower Wacker Drive Challenges ===================================== Challenge #1 ------------ -Perform an Ollie Setup -Grind the Center Entry Rail Median -Ollie to 5-0 Grind the High Rail Challenge #2 ------------ -Tilt Trick off the Ramp -Grind the Wall Pipe -Clear the Cross Pipe Be sure to perform the tilt trick in the blue area for best results, trying to land on the downslope. For the cross pipe, it's like always, pump for speed a few times before the approach and then ollie nice and late. Challenge #3 ------------ -Manual to Ollie over Barrier 1 to Manual -Manual to Ollie over Barrier 2 to Manual -Manual to Ollie over Barrier 3 to Manual Ollie-Manual-Ollie-Manual-Ollie-Manual. Easy enough? If timing is hurting you, ollie a short while earlier. The deck didn't always register my ollie in time. Challenge #4 ------------ -Ollie to Grind Highlighted Guard Rail -Ollie over the Dumpsters The grind doesn't leave you with much time to prep for the second ollie. You probably don't have time to pump for speed and so you're left with just your ollie. I do a setup and ollie when I'm almost off the ramp (and into the dumpster) to get the height to clear it. If you're really having trouble, ollie later than you think is possible. Challenge #5 ------------ -Perform Flick Flip Tricks off both Ramps -Grind the Jetty Ledge -Grind Transfer between Two Parallel Rails Make sure you ollie off the ramps to get the flick flip tricks to register. If you ollie too early, they won't. Perform your grind. The transfer can be difficult. While grinding, lean to the left and ollie. Your skater will be shown leaning in the proper direction. You don't have too much time. This is probably easier for a goofy skater. ============================= Section D: Loop Plaza Challenges ============================= Challenge #1 ------------ -Ollie to Grind Entry -Tilt Trick off the Entry Rail Grind I thought Grind Entry was some new move name. It's just the rail beneath. Simply ollie down and tilt trick off. Challenge #2 ------------ -Manual down all of the Stairs -Grind the Dead Man's Curve Rail Hold your manual down the set of stairs. For the Dead Man's Curve Rail, you don't need to grind the whole thing, just about any part of the rail can be grinded to get credit for this. Challenge #3 ------------ -Grind through the Shards of Sky Skuplture -Grab off Sculpture QP Reversal -Grind back through the Shards of Sky Sculpture Grind any of the 3 rails through the sky scuplture, perform any grab off the Qp and then grind back. Nothing really to detail here. Challenge #4 ------------ -Ollie to Manual on the Self Reflection Ledge -Grab off the Left Bowl QP -Tilt Trick off Ramp to Manual on the Self Reflection Ledge -Grab off the Right Bowl QP The third part is the only real challenge here, as you must hit the ramp, perform a good tilt trick and land in a manual on the ledge. Oftentimes I missed the ramp or my ollie brought me off of the ledge. Good luck on this one! Challenge #5 ------------ -Manual from Icon to Icon -Grab off the Courtyard Exit QP -Grind the Mural Hold your manual through the icons and perform a grab off the QP. For the mural grind, ollie off of the kicker at its apex. If you're not making it, maybe ollie a bit earlier (so to let the board register your ollie at the ramp's peak). Grind and you're done! ================================= Section E: Brooklyn Banks Challenges ================================= Challenge #1 ------------ -Tilt Trick Over the First Ramp -Nollie to Tilt Trick Over the Second Ramp -Nollie to Flick Trick Over the Third Ramp Challenge #2 ------------ -Flick Trick Off the Ramp -Ride Up the QP and Invert Challenge #3 ------------ -Ollie or Nollie to Nose Manual -Nose Manual from One Arch to the Next -Ride Up the QP and Invert Challenge #4 ------------ -Drop In and Spine Transfer Over the Zumiez Couch -Tail Grab Over the QP -Spine Transfer Over the Zumiez Couch Again -Nose Grab Over the QP Challenge #5 ------------ -Grind the Arc Rail and Ollie Off to Manual -Manual to the Hand Rail and Ollie Onto It -Grind the First Hand Rail and Tilt Trick off the End -Tilt Trick Over the Grind Gap -Grind the Second Hand Rail and Land the Combo =============================== Section F: Central Park Challenges =============================== Challenge #1 ------------ -Nollie to a Nose Grind on the Rail -Nollie Through Two fo the Four Hoops The first part isn't hard, but it looks pretty cool. The second part may give you difficulty. Remember to ollie early and have a lot of speed before doing so. The second hoop is harder than the first. Challenge #2 ------------ -Grind the Middle Monkey Bars -Nollie Setup before the Squid -Grind a Squid Tentacle Remember that to do a setup, put your foot on the nose covering the sensor. Your skater will setup for a nollie. Here, however, all you have to do is the setup, you don't actually even have to nollie. Challenge #3 ------------ -Grind the Divider -Nollie Tilt Trick Through the Apple -Nollie Tilt Trick off the Bottle Challenge #4 ------------ -Nollie off the Ramp of the Skeleton Spine -Perform a 5-0 Grind on a Skeleton Spine -Manual Underneath the Whale Skeleton Challenge #5 ------------ -Hold a Nose Manual under the Dolphins -Skate into the Middle of the Octopus -Grab out of the Octopus -Adv. Nollie Tilt Trick up to the Top of the Boat Nose manual, check, skate straight, check, don't fail to do a grab trick, check. Prep your nollie early but nollie late. You'll want to nollie setup before you head up but do the tilt trick as late as possible to get enough air to get to the top of the boat. ===================================== Section G: Frankfurt Terminal Challenges ===================================== Challenge #1 ------------ -Manual Flick Trick Before the Ramp -50/50 Grind on the Long Rails -Do a 90 Degree Grind -Do a 50/50 Grind Again and Land the Combo Challenge #2 ------------ -Score 3,000 Points in One Combo on the Big Air Path Challenge #3 ------------ -Manual Over Both the Wavy Ramps -Do A Manual Finger Flilp -Grind the Plane and Tilt Trick Off the End Challenge #4 ------------ -Grab Off the First Tram Ramp -Nollie Grab Off the Ramp to Nose Manual -Grind the Suspended Rails and Flick Trick Off the End Challenge #5 ------------ -Ride Up the QP and Invert -Manual Down the Station Ramp -Grab Trick Over the Train The invert shouldn't be an issue and I hope your balance is good enough to do the manual. The biggest trick here is getting performing your ollie late enough to get sufficient air to clear the train. You won't have too much speed due to the long manual, so be sure to ollie late on the ramp to clear it. ================================== Section H: Barcelona Plaza Challenges ================================== Challenge #1 ------------ -5-0 Grind the Top Left of the Awning -Grab Trick off the Quarter Pipe -Grind to Manual to Grind between Benches A 5-0 grind is one where you lean back and grind on your back trucks only. Note that you cannot grind to manual to grind to manual and have this register. Best land the ollie out of the grind otherwise you're doing it again. Challenge #2 ------------ -Adv. Grab over QP Transfer -Grind Gap the Benches with Three Unique Grinds Perform the Advance Grab by setting up your ollie and doing a grab in the air. The three grinds aren't hard, don't get fancy, do a 5-0, 50-50 and nosegrind. Challenge #3 ------------ -Ollie to Manual up to The Gallery -Adv. Tilt Trick off the Gallery Ramp Challenge #4 ------------ -Adv. Flick Flip Trick off the Hump -Grind Transfer between the Two Bar Grinds -Flip Trick Spine Transfer over the Wall Challenge #5 ------------ -Spine Transfer over the Vert Wall -Nose Grind Wave Wall to Nollie into Waves -Invert on the Wave Wall Exit QP My problems here were performing the nollie out into the waves on the right and having the board register my invert. Push up, let your skater ollie and then lean forward to do the spine transfer. Position your feet on both the tail and nose so that you can ollie up (or nollie), land in a nose grind and prep to lean to the right. As a goofy skater, I think this is more difficult. The invert should be easy, but it frustrated me greatly as it simply would never register my move. Good luck! ================================= Section I: Toledo Streets Challenges ================================= Challenge #1 ------------ -Perform a 90x Grind on the Rail -180x off End of the Ramp -Tilt Trick up to the Top of the Stair Case Challenge #2 ------------ -Perform a Manual Revert -180x through the Stone Wall -Ollie off the Hill onto the Bridge to Safety This is your first manual revert. Look at the tutorial if you need more help. Initiate your manual and then do a 180x spin on your deck. Go backside (turn away, goofy-footed skaters turn right, regular, left) and let go. You can stop your manual now. If you desire, return your deck to your initial position. You can keep it turned as you're spinning again. Either way, just ollie and turn 180x to perform this spin. Then, ollie off the hill, at its highest point to give you enough air, and land on the bridge. Feel free to do some tricks in the process. Challenge #3 ------------ -Adv. Flick Trick onto the Bridge's ledge -Grind Gap across the Bridge -Grind Gap to Flip Trick in Air across the Bridge Do an ollie setup to any flick trick. Grind the bridge and ollie over the gap. Be prepared for the next gap, do any flip trick (same as before is fine) and land on the other side. Not too challenging but I had a hard time getting the first advanced flip trick to register at first. Make sure to ollie through the blue icon. Challenge #4 ------------ -90x Grind the First Awning then Grind the Next -Grind the Awning then Ollie 180x onto the Last -Ollie 180x onto a Grind on the Last Roof Awning Ollie and turn your deck 90x to get the first portion. I got this w/out 'grinding the next' whatever that means. I'm stuck on the rest. Challenge #5 ------------ -Perform a Signature Trick through the Stone Archways You need to get your Style meter up fast to do this one. Make sure you clear the gap that gets you to the top. =============== Section J: Credits =============== I went through the game myself in getting this info. The community has never been so barren!
