I thought <b>Independence Day<\/b> would be awesome (I <i>was<\/i> only 18 at the time).  It was not.  I had low expectations for <b>Aliens Vs. Predator<\/b> &#8211; therefore I was not disappointed.  Here, we have the second <b>Expendables<\/b> film and it was precisely what it needed to be.  I cannot see how <i>anyone<\/i> could rate this poorly.  It was what it was, and nothing more. <\/p>\n<p>The intro and outro sequences were great.  Arnold, Willis and Stallone fighting side-by-side?  <b>KICK ASS<\/b>!  Sly&#8217;s punches vs. Van Damme&#8217;s kicks?  <b>Rock and Roll<\/b>!  One-liner trade-offs?  <b>FUCK YEAH<\/b>!  <\/p>\n<p>Jet Li punches someone in the face and I see meat.  MEAT!  <\/p>\n<p>There were 400 casualties in the first 90 seconds of the film.  This is a modern-day <b>Hot Shots: Part Deux!<\/b>  <\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_996\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/slateman.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/expendables2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-996\" src=\"https:\/\/slateman.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/expendables2-1-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"The Expendables 2\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-996\" srcset=\"https:\/\/slateman.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/expendables2-1-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/slateman.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/expendables2-1.jpg 460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-996\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Sportsphoto Ltd.\/Allstar)<\/p><\/div>  <b>The Expendables 2<\/b> was an over-the-top, absurd, high-testosterone film and I wouldn&#8217;t change a thing about it.  Even when I thought there should be more Arnold, I realized how awesome it made the final sequence.  Maybe more explosions would have worked.  I think there were more in the first one!
