This is the type of spur-of-the-moment purchase I never make. Seeing this type of thing online almost never ends up being a purchase. However, yesterday, it was my treat. I allowed Aiden to pick a box (they’re all blind) and off we went to pay. I looked at the box (pic to the left) and pondered…Blanka, Chun, Guile…OK. I like Honda nowadays. Balrog (U.S. Vega) would be sweet. Ryu, Ken, OK. Sagat, Zangief or Dhalsim would be cool. The only one I wasn’t into was M. Bison (U.S. Balrog). His design (well, Mike Tyson), was never my favorite. I prefer Dudley as my boxer anyways. And you know it, the 1/40 chance (2.5%) came true to find an M. Bison. Ah well. He’s kinda cool and fits well with the small collection of SF toys I have. Most are still in boxes, but I’ve got some stuff on the shelf now. Ryu from the SFIV collector’s edition. Reko from Mushihimesama, Barrett from Final Fantasy VII and a handful of other SF chars. Oh, a Lego stormtrooper and a chocobo, too! Anyways, I’d love to go back and get another…I guess that’s how this stuff hooks you. That 1/80 is Vega (U.S. M. Bison). That would be cool too. Those Comic-Con ones are sweet too! Evil Ryu & Shin Gouki in particular.
Massive SFG Update Is A Go!!!
Posted in Best / Worst, Blog, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter, Web Design on January 24, 2013 by slatemanI couldn’t contain myself the other day and spilled the beans but today the huge update is live. Having tweaked more than two dozen different sections by adding posters, new galleries, fixing old ones and revamping a few pages, it’s easily the biggest update since the site launched 11 years ago. And, congrats to me for another long-running site. Crumbling Flesh turns 18 this year, the empty shell that is Planet Tony Hawk would be 14 and this one 11. Rock on! I was psyched to make this big update, giving me 106 galleries in this humble site. Here are the samples I listed over there. Excellent!!!

Street Fighter Galleries: Enormous Update
Posted in Best / Worst, Blog, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter, Web Design on January 22, 2013 by slatemanI’ll be posting a huge update over at Street Fighter Galleries soon, in honor of the site’s 11th anniversary. What turned out as a few gallery updates has become an enormous undertaking. By my latest count, I’ve updated or added no fewer than 23 galleries and added at least a half dozen posters. So…while I want to wait to post the big update, I’m also psyched to fix a lot of things that were slightly broken (10 year old code) and also fill some gaps that were missing. This last update of the day was to Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter. Never one of my favorite games, its art is impressing me lately! Check out the new updates!

Street Fighter X Mega Man Art
Posted in Blog, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter, Web Design on December 28, 2012 by slateman
Even as a long-time Mega Man fan, I have almost zero interest in this title. The grand celebration of the Blue Bomber’s 25th anniversary has come out as a free, downloadable, fan-made title and it’s nothing short of OK. That’s not fair, I haven’t really given it enough love, but I did check it out and was left feeling underwhelmed. In any event, I’ve captured the character artwork, as basic and lame as it is. I figured I should post them over at SFGalleries. In fact, it’s my 93rd gallery with another 6 bonus galleries…that means the next is my 100th; that’ll be a nice way to celebrate the site’s 10th anniversary. Let’s see what we have:

SFGalleries: New Vampire/Darkstalkers Art
Posted in Game Art, Games, Street Fighter, Web Design with tags Darkstalkers on December 2, 2012 by slatemanI’ve been doing research for a potential FAQ on the Vampire / Darkstalkers series. As I work on this, I decided to put some more effort into the series’ entries on SFGalleries. As I continue to work on that guide, I updated the site with the new character art for
Vampire / Darkstalkers Resurrection, due in March. The new gallery, which is only half complete so far, is spectacular. I’ll toss some samples below. I’ll continue to update this as Capcom Japan posts new art. Enjoy!!!
4 More Shotokan Swaps!
Posted in Blog, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter, Web Design on November 4, 2012 by slatemanI thought 53 was sufficient but I was mistaken! Going through Marvel Vs. Capcom recently, I noticed I missed a few palette swaps! Since Ken and Gouki are missing from the game, they are represented through Ryu and so there are four additional colors available by switching. My SFZ swaps section now includes these four. Given the stupidity of the gallery in my last post, this shouldn’t really be a surprise. Here are the four new sprites which are added to the ridiculous number of gaming GIFs on my main site.

SFZ2 Art Swaps
Posted in Blog, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter, Web Design on November 4, 2012 by slatemanThis was last weekend’s insanity. I love the Zero/Alpha series, it’s no secret SFZ2 is my favorite. I’ve been enjoying doing alternate color galleries (see Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Vs. Capcom) and I figured, “Why not more?”
So, I chose my favorite of the bunch, SFZ2A and grabbed the alternate colors for all the characters. This includes Satsui No Hadou Ryu, Shin Gouki, Chun-Li’s classic outfit, Sakura’s bonus colors and all the SSF2 colors. The result is an absurd 132 captures. Ah well, I love this stuff. Check out the full gallery complete with mouseovers. Enjoy the preview…this is stupid…haha.

UPDATES…..
Posted in Blog, Borderlands, Cubing, DoDon Pachi, Games, Godflesh, Personal, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, The Walking Dead, Yankees on November 2, 2012 by slatemanIt’s been a long time and a lot has happened. I’ve had some ups and downs these past few weeks but the good has been rather good. Let’s see…
First off, I’ll be getting a new cube any day now and I’m pretty psyched. It’s a cool one, it’s the curvy copter, and it’s a jumbling puzzle. It should be spectacular.
My Godflesh site turned 17 years old a few weeks ago. That’s insanely old.
Resident Evil 6 and Borderlands 2 – Making progress. Taking forever. Well worth the cashola.
I also picked up Street Fighter X Tekken as well for cheap. I’d played it several months ago and look forward to having it in my library!
The Yankees – I couldn’t even write about this. I still can’t.
The Walking Dead – both the game (episode 4) and show (episode 3) were solid. The game may have been a filler/connector episode and the show an introducer, but both were strong and make me yearn for more. Sadly the game’s sequel must wait quite a while.
Hurricane Sandy – :( So much destruction. :( :(
EPISODE VII!?!?!? I’ll post some thoughts on this soon. It may actually have a chance of being good. Four words – Pirates Of The Caribbean.
DoDonPachi: Maximum came out on the iPad and was on sale so I snatched that up. It’s kinda fun. It’s cool seeing the returning characters/stages/music and it is a pretty good challenge on later levels. I may pick up ESP Galuda II as well.
Enough for now?
