Morrigan: Vampire Hunter OVA

Posted in Artwork, Best / Worst, Blog, Game Art with tags on January 7, 2020 by slateman

In celebration of resurrecting this site after I accidentally killed it, here’s Morrigan from her Vampire Hunter / Night Warriors OVA appearance. This was drawn by Masashi Ikeda and is utterly phenomenal. That’s all for today.

NeoGeo Pocket Color: SNK Vs. Capcom Captures

Posted in Artwork, Blog, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter on May 14, 2019 by slateman

I’ve been writing for so long that I haven’t really touched anything else. Today, for some reason, I felt compelled to check out SNK Vs. Capcom: The Match Of The Millennium on the NeoGeo Pocket Color. I was always disappointed that I couldn’t capture the bonus characters and I never had the patience to unlock them in any legitimate fashion. Well, thanks to ArtMoney, I didn’t have to! So, I finally captured the standing animations for the four bonus fighters: Bulleta, Vega, Evil Ryu and Gouki! And then why not grab the character portraits, now with the secondary colors as well?!! I’m pretty psyched to have these now.

Because I don’t know how to run web pages properly, you can find these at different sites. The standing animations are at my slateman site with the character art at SFGalleries. Or, why not just post it all right here? Enjoy!

Bonus Characters

As for character art, remember the NGPC’s screen resolution was like 160×152 so it explains why these are so tiny!

Horizon: Zero Dawn – Just Stunning

Posted in Artwork, Game Art, Games, Screenshots with tags on August 14, 2017 by slateman

I quite liked posting those Final Fantasy XII snapshots and I recalled that this year’s GotY contender, Horizon: Zero Dawn was absolutely gorgeous to look at as well. Therefore, I dug through my snapshots from this spring and decided to post some of my favorites. Potential spoilers here! Man, the game’s photo mode is spectacular. Enjoy!

Final Fantasy XII: Enjoying The Beauty

It’s been a few weeks and my journey through Ivalice is hardly complete. At more than 40 hours, I’d wager I’m maybe halfway through. But while my recent ventures have been way off the story’s path, the tale itself is an epic and grand one, much as one might expect from any good FF. The trusty screenshot button is one of my favorite additions to this generation of gaming and so I thought I’d share some of the stunning vistas, group shots (I love these) and unique art style that is FFXII. I’m absolutely loving it. Here you go.

Some New SF Sprites

In celebration of Violent Ken’s appearance in the upcoming Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers and in celebration of the original release of World Warriors a lifetime ago, I’ve ripped some new animations. The first is just a pair of Violent Ken animations from SNK Vs. Capcom: Chaos from 2003. The second is a full set of the 8 World Warriors from the original SFII. No real reason otherwise. Just to do it, I suppose. Let’s see!

Cyberbots: Z-Gouki

Posted in Artwork, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter on August 22, 2016 by slateman

I saw that this weekend’s Flash Sale on the PSN had Cyberbots for the PS1. I never loved this game, but about a year ago (Aug 29th, to be exact) I had the urge to see Z-Gouki in action. Now he was never available in the arcade version and I was tempted to buy the PSN game. However ePSXe works wonders and I was able to capture him there! It required a lot of cleaning up, to be honest, but while I’m capturing images for a future SFGalleries update, I figured I’d share the only known sprites of Z-Gouki that I know of. It’s his standing pose. Doing a full animation was way too much work for my tastes so here is a pair of GIFs for you all. Kinda cool IMO.

Castlevania: Order Of Ecclesia Art

I can’t say I even remember playing this. After completing Portrait Of Ruin twice, I vaguely recall something afterwards. If anything, it didn’t leave a lasting memory other than ‘Oh, maybe I played that…wasn’t as good as Portrait.’ In any event, I’m trying to go through some hard drive stuff and these two artworks are pretty sweet…so while the game may not have been so spectacular, the art here is. Enjoy!

Ratchet & Clank Logo Collection

Posted in Best / Worst, Blog, Game Art, Games with tags , on January 29, 2013 by slateman

logo-collectionFortunately, I don’t really care what people think. Because…well…this appears to be a complete waste of time. However, upon final inspection, I quite like it, and that’s all that friggin’ matters…got it? Well, since I started going through Ratchet & Clank HD this past week, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the game. Getting all the gold bolts, skill points, weapons, etc. has been a cool challenge and a nice memory (unlike that THPSHD DLC) Anyhoo, it’s been a lot of fun and so I had that stupid inspiration to collect every R&C logo from every game. I was surprised to find so many!!! I compiled all the Japanese releases, one French and another Spanish and tossed in all the alternate European titles. It’s absurd…and that’s why I love it. Head over to my main site for the complete collection of R&C logos. Just be prepared for it to be a waste of your time. A good waste.

Massive SFG Update Is A Go!!!

Posted in Best / Worst, Blog, Game Art, Games, Street Fighter, Web Design on January 24, 2013 by slateman

I couldn’t contain myself the other day and spilled the beans but today the huge update is live. Having tweaked more than two dozen different sections by adding posters, new galleries, fixing old ones and revamping a few pages, it’s easily the biggest update since the site launched 11 years ago. And, congrats to me for another long-running site. Crumbling Flesh turns 18 this year, the empty shell that is Planet Tony Hawk would be 14 and this one 11. Rock on! I was psyched to make this big update, giving me 106 galleries in this humble site. Here are the samples I listed over there. Excellent!!!
